Circle Area Calculator

Calculate the area of a circular plot using its radius. Enter the radius in your chosen length unit to get the corresponding square-area result.

Calculate Circular Land Area

Enter the radius of your circular land plot using the selected length unit.

Circle Area Formula

The area of a circle is calculated by multiplying π by the square of its radius.

Area = π × Radius²

The radius is the distance from the centre of the circle to its boundary. If the radius is measured in feet, the result is expressed in square feet. If the radius is measured in metres, the result is expressed in square metres.

How to Calculate Circular Land Area

  1. Measure the radius from the centre of the circular plot to its boundary.
  2. Make sure the measurement uses one consistent length unit.
  3. Enter the radius and select the corresponding length unit.
  4. The calculator applies Area = π × Radius².
  5. Read the result in the selected square-area unit.

Example: 10 m Radius

Suppose a circular plot has a radius of 10 metres.

Area = π × 10 × 10

Area ≈ 314.15926536 square metres

Using the Circle Calculator for Land Measurement

This calculator is useful when the plot boundary can reasonably be represented as a circle and its radius is known. You can select the measurement unit, enter the radius and calculate the geometric area.

The geometric area calculated here is different from local revenue or customary land-unit conversions. If you need the result in a local land unit such as bigha, biswa, or another regional unit, use a conversion source appropriate to the relevant location and measurement convention.

Common Measurement Mistakes

  • Entering the diameter when the calculator requires radius.
  • Mixing feet with metres or another length unit.
  • Confusing feet (ft) with square feet (ft²).
  • Measuring from one boundary point to another and treating that measurement as the radius.
  • Assuming the geometric area automatically represents a local revenue-record measurement.

When Not to Use a Circle Area Calculator

If the plot has different length and width measurements, use the Rectangle Area Calculator instead.

If the plot has three sides and can reasonably be represented as a triangle, use the Triangle Area Calculator.

If the boundary is irregular, this simple circle formula should not be used. Irregular boundaries require a separate geometric method based on the actual measured boundary.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the formula for circle area?

The formula is Area = π × Radius².

Can I calculate circular land area in feet?

Yes. Enter the radius in feet, and the calculator can provide the result in square feet or another supported square-area unit.

Can I enter diameter instead of radius?

No. This calculator requires the radius. If you know the diameter, divide it by two before entering the value.

Can this calculator calculate an irregular plot?

No. The circle formula should only be used when the plot can reasonably be treated as a circle. Irregular boundaries require a different area calculation method.

Land Measurement Note

This calculator provides a geometric area calculation based on the measurements entered by the user. It does not determine legal ownership, cadastral boundaries, survey boundaries, or official revenue-record area.
